PIZZA HUT PUSHES FOR JUAN TIME IN PRE-NEW YEAR COUNTDOWN

To unite the 7,100 islands in one time.

This was the main objective of the recent pre-New Year countdown at the Araneta Center launched by Pizza Hut with beauty queens Venus Raj and Shamcey Supsup.

A day before the fireworks erupted in the metro to usher in 2012, Pizza Hut, together with partners Discovery Channel and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) emphasized the need for Juan Time, the new and more productive concept of Filipino time that espouses punctuality.  The campaign aims to synchronize all timepieces in the country’s more than 7,000 islands to Philippine Standard Time. DOST’s “Juan Time” (a word play on one time and Juan), shows that keeping to the Philippine Standard Time prevents the difficulties of having unsynchronized and confusing time.

Established decades ago, Philippine Standard Time is set by DOST’s Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the country’s official timekeeper since 1978.

“Juan Time” is an advocacy that is very much in line with Pizza Hut’s own “Hate Late” campaign that focuses on being on time, all the time. This is the reason why Pizza Hut deliveries are always on hot on the dot, reaching a near perfect 99.8% of on time deliveries. With this, Pizza Hut has helped reverse the previous negative connotation of Filipino Time and has upgraded this to “Juan Time” which is synonymous with punctuality and productivity.

Even international beauty queens appreciate the value of being on time in their lives.

Venus Raj says, “Pizza Hut is Philippine Standard Time or Juan Time. Dapat iisa lang ang reference natin ng oras para lagi tayong on time. If we all have the same time, there is a better chance for us to be punctual in our commitments.”  Shamcey Supsup on the other hand enthuses, “Time is a resource that is very important but oftentimes overlooked. In order to reach our personal and professional goals in the coming year, we have to be more conscious of our time and to use it productively. One minute wasted is one minute gone forever.”

The “Juan Time” advocacy in Pizza Hut is not a one-day affair. On the contrary, this is targeted at being a continuing campaign among Filipino people to be always on time.
The pre-New Year countdown and synchronization of timepieces took the mold of a New Year’s party with simultaneous performances of chorales, marching bands, drum beaters and dancing delivery rider performances. The festivities started with the Magical Parade of Lights that circled the Araneta Center. After this, Venus and Shamcey led the countdown to setting everyone’s watches in sync with Philippine Standard Time. This was followed by much fanfare, dancing and a spectacular fireworks display.

Pizza Hut’s Marketing Manager Raymund Nobleza says, “we hope that Juan Time encourages all Filipinos to junk the habit of being late and making excuses for this. As we embark on a brand new year, we wish champion this mindset of being on time so that we all have a better chance of reaching our goals in the coming year.” Nobleza also assures Pizza Hut customers, “you can be sure that Juan Time is Pizza Hut Time and that we will always be hot on the dot.”

Pizza Hut helps out in Sendong victims relief efforts

 

Over 200 families were given relief goods last December 23, 2011 at Balulang, Ilaya, Cagayan de Oro City.

The area which was severely devastated by typhoon Sendong on December 17, was slowly trying to recover from the aftermath of the incident. Pizza Hut together with 23 of its team members, three managers, as well as Bb. Pilipinas-International Ms. Dianne Necio, and Ms. Universe 3rd Runner-up Ms. Shamcey Supsup all volunteered to help out in giving the affected families relief from the tragedy just before Christmas.

Canned goods, bottled water, clothes, and other items were given to the affected families. It was a moment of camaraderie and an event that shows the spirit of both generosity and helpfulness in the Pizza Hut family. May we all rise up from this tragedy together.

Pizza Hut & Taco Bell Launches World Hunger Relief 2011 with Venus Raj

It is that time of the year again when Pizza Hut, along with Taco Bell, join hands with the World Food Programme to raise funds to feed schoolchildren in conflict-stricken areas in Mindanao.

In the recently held press launch for World Hunger Relief 2011 at Pizza Hut SM Araneta Center, the newest volunteer for WFP was introduced: no other than Pizza Hut’s endorser, Ms. Universe 2010 4th Runner-up, and DSWD Ambassador for Poor Children’s Rights and Welfare, Ms. Venus Raj.

Venus believes in the value of education and the importance of proper nourishment to do well in school. As she said, how can a student focus on his studies if he is thinking about his hunger? Volunteering for World Hunger Relief is an advocacy Venus truly believes in.

For this year Pizza Hut and Taco Bell are targeting to reach six million pesos in donations. Last year’s World Hunger Relief efforts generated four million in donations, a hundred percent bigger than the initial target of two million.

For only 40 pesos, you can buy a postcard featuring Venus Raj. Ten pesos can actually feed one child, so 40 pesos is a small amount to share for a worthy cause. Let us all work together in feeding school children in the Philippines for the World Food Programme.

Shamcey is latest endorser for Pizza Hut Tuscani

Ms. Universe 3rd Runner Up Shamcey Supsup is the latest endorser of Pizza Hut for its latest product, the Tuscani line of pizzas.

The beauty queen signed her contract with Pizza Hut at Pizza Hut Bistro, Glorietta 4 last September 6. Present at the event were Ad and Promo Manager Edgar Allan Caper, VP for Finance Ms. Cristy Ramos, and Philippine Pizza, Inc. COO Mr. Lars Peterson.

PNoy drops by PH Katipunan

President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III was seen visiting the newly reopened Pizza Hut restaurant at Katipunan Avenue. The President dropped by the casual dining restaurant after attending the inauguration of the new Ateneo de Manila University president. Diners and Pizza Hut team members were excited to see the President.

Pizza Hut visits needy kids
Needy kids from the Asociacion de Damas de Filipinas were treated to a Pizza Hut Hot on the Dot delivery event last August 16, complete with dancing riders for entertainment! The kids enjoyed hearty Pizza Hut meals, fun games and activities with the Pizza Pooch, and an entertaining performance from the Pizza Hut riders dancing to the tune of Fire Burning on the Dance floor. It was a memorable event not only for the kids but for the Pizza Hut family as well.

Diether heats up SM Masinag
Hunky actor Diether Ocampo made fans go crazy at his Meet and Greet event at SM City Masinag last September 17. The hot Pizza Hut endorser serenaded fans, signed autographs and made cameras flash wildly. Pizza Hut was there to make the event even hotter with a pizza-eating contest and other fun activities.

Walk the World Pilipinas 2011

Pizza Hut & Taco bell joined Walk the World Pilipinas 2011 last May 29, 2011 at SM MOA grounds with the title: I race against hunger in support of school feeding program for more than 80, 000 kids in Mindanao.  4000 people from private sectors, partners and participants attended the event.

WFP School feeding Programme

Pizza Hut & Taco Bell Employees went to Panggao Primary School, Munai Lanao del Norte last March 23, 2011 to witness the actual WFP School feeding Programme.

150 kids from grade 1 to grade 4 are present during the site visit.Pizza Hut giveaway food, back pack and school supplies to the delight of parents and local officials. YUM Brands Pizza Hut & Taco Bell has been partners with WFP-Phils since 2007 and able to generate total donation of 54.5 million pesos.

P4.5 Million donation to WFP

WFP is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide.  Each year, on average, WFP feeds more than 90 million people in more than 70 countries.

Pizza Hut and Taco Bell launched their fourth annual World Hunger Relief campaign in the Philippines. Over 165 restaurants in the country raised funds for WFP’s Emergency School Feeding programme, which provides nutritious meals to 80,000 elementary school children in conflict-affected areas of Central Mindanao.
